Support During Uncertain Times
If the uncertainty of the past few months has left you feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unable to sleep, you are not alone, and support is available.
Many people are navigating a level of stress right now that feels unfamiliar or hard to name. Changes in the broader world — economic, institutional, social — have a way of working their way into the most personal corners of our lives: our sleep, our relationships, our sense of security, and our ability to focus on what matters most to us.
You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Sometimes what’s needed is a steady, skilled presence who can help you make sense of what you’re feeling and find your footing again.
What we’re hearing from people right now
Our clinicians are supporting clients across a range of concerns that have become more prevalent recently. If any of these sound familiar, you’re in the right place.
Anxiety & worry
A persistent sense of dread, difficulty relaxing, or racing thoughts that are hard to turn off, even when there is no crisis in your immediate life.
Sleep disruption
Trouble falling asleep, waking in the night to doom scroll, or waking early with your mind already spinning.
Financial worry
Stress about job security, savings, benefits, or what the future holds for your family’s stability or your child’s economic or professional future, even when finances are technically fine right now.
Job instability
Navigating layoffs, reorganizations, furloughs, or a professional landscape that includes AI encroachment that feels less predictable than it once did.
News overwhelm
Feeling saturated or destabilized by the pace of news, yet finding it hard to look away. Vigilant doom scrolling at all hours when you should be working, with family, or sleeping.
Relational strain
Increased tension with partners, family members, or friends, sometimes over values, sometimes simply from the weight of shared stress.
Coming in — or staying home

We believe that in-person human connection is more valuable now than ever. There is something grounding about sitting in a well-appointed, peaceful space with a supportive person in an hour that belongs entirely to you. For many of our clients, the drive to Kentlands, the greeting from our receptionist, and a moment with our facility dog while getting a coffee in the waiting area all serve as a deliberate break from everything else.
But we also understand that for some people, leaving the house feels like one more thing to manage. Telehealth sessions are available for those who prefer to meet from home or whose schedule, health, or circumstances make remote sessions the more sustainable choice.
Whether you come to us or we come to your screen, the quality of care is the same. The goal is always to lower the barriers between you and the support you need.
A note on financial concern and therapy

We know that economic uncertainty makes the cost of care feel like one more thing to worry about. At Kentlands Psychotherapy, we want to be transparent: we are a fee-for-service practice, which means we do not bill insurance directly. Many clients find that their out-of-network benefits cover a meaningful portion of session fees. You can review our current rates on our fees page.
If you’re experiencing financial stress as part of what you’re carrying right now, we can address it in your therapy. Many of our clinicians have specific experience helping clients navigate the psychological dimensions of financial strain: the shame, the anticipatory dread, the effect on identity and relationships.
Understanding out-of-network coverage
If your insurance plan includes out-of-network behavioral health benefits, you may be reimbursed for a portion of your sessions. We provide superbills upon request. A brief call with your insurance carrier before your first appointment can clarify what to expect. Visit our Insurance guidance page for tips on questions to ask when you call. Our Client Care Coordinators are glad to help you think through the process.
Our approach
Kentlands Psychotherapy is a doctoral-majority group practice; most of our clinicians hold doctoral degrees or have advanced training in their area of expertise. We offer individual therapy, couples therapy, psychological evaluation services, and psychiatric medication services, and our team brings specialized training in anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and the intersection of work, identity, and mental health.
We have served the Kentlands community and greater Montgomery County for nearly two decades. You can learn more about our clinicians and their areas of expertise on our About Us page.
Therapy works best when it matches both the nature of your concerns and the way you think. Our in-depth matching process is designed to find the right fit for you—not just the next available clinician.
Serving Montgomery County and surrounding areas
Our office is located in the Kentlands neighborhood of Gaithersburg, Maryland, convenient to Rockville, Germantown, North Potomac, Darnestown, Clarksburg, and the broader I-270 corridor. In-person and telehealth sessions are both available for Maryland residents.
