What Are You Looking For?

Are you seeking a private practice career opportunity in Montgomery County, Maryland? Perhaps you’ve clocked your hours for your licensure and “paid your dues” in insurance-based, high-risk, residential, or partial hospitalization settings, and now you’re looking for something…different. Maybe you need something a little slower. Or perhaps you yearn for something a bit more personal?

Kentlands Psychotherapy provides individualized, high-quality care to our clients. As such, our practice model supports clinicians through our sustainable care model. Therefore, from the first phone call with our intake coordinator to the “goodbye-for-now’ open-ended termination session, we want our clients to feel respected, supported, championed, and cared for. So, if that model resonates with you, keep reading. We want to meet you!

Elizabeth Carr

“We are destigmatizing mental health care by creating an environment where clients are catered to, cared for, and respected.”

Dr. Elizabeth Carr, Founder & CEO

Our Mission to Increase Diversity in the Profession

Our mission is to increase the gender, racial, cultural, religious, sexual, ability/disability diversity within our field. Representation matters. Having clinicians who, because of shared experiences and perspectives, clients can relate to and feel understood by, is extremely important in our work.

As such, our internship program has reflected our commitment to contributing to the mental health training pipeline. So, visit our Hall of Fame page to see our remarkable internship graduates! Because we don’t just give lip service to valuing diversity. We’ve spent hundreds of hours each year training local young people to support them in pursuing their professional dreams.

Meanwhile, we continue to diversify our practice’s paid positions as well! So, if you believe something about your experience or background could add a unique viewpoint to our clinical team. Or, more importantly, our community needs you! So, let’s start a conversation.

We want our staff to love working with us and to “settle in and stay a while.” So, to that end, we will learn about your unique long-term professional goals, nurture them, and market them. This way, you can stand out to the public for your expertise within the practice and throughout the greater community. Plus, we offer a CEU reimbursement program to support your professional development!

Our Culture

Audio snippet on my commitment to our clinicians from the full interview with Joe Sanok of The Practice of the Practice.

Established in 2005, we are exclusively a fee-for-service practice in the heart of the Kentlands award-winning new urbanist community. Broadly, the owners, the Drs. Carr have a passion for exceptional leadership that includes accessible mentorship, transparency in business decisions, and healthy culture creation where staff are carefully selected to maintain both a pleasant, collegial work environment and our outstanding reputation within the community. Thus, our highly skilled, no-drama, clinically diverse staff are a pleasure to collaborate with or to just grab a bit for lunch.

Petra Desmond, our gem of an office manager, runs a tight ship with billing and payroll. Furthermore, as our Senior Client Care Coordinator, she and her staff make an excellent first impression with prospective clients. Plus, they keep us well-supplied to do our jobs.

Our loyal clients come from the local community of suburban Montgomery County families. Most importantly, they represent our loved ones, neighbors, friends, colleagues, and family members, and we do our best to take phenomenal care of every one of them.
