In-Person Internship in Community Mental Health | Location: Gaithersburg, MD – In-Person | Hours: afternoon and evening
Kentlands Psychotherapy, a premier boutique mental health practice in the heart of the Kentlands community, is seeking an undergraduate, rising junior or senior, to support our communications, public relations, and marketing efforts. This part-time internship is ideal for a college student studying communications, public relations, marketing, psychology, public health, or a related field seeking meaningful experience in a mental health setting.

About the Role:
This internship blends administrative support, communications, marketing, public relations assistance, and community engagement. Interns serve as a helpful evening presence at our front desk while contributing to both behind-the-scenes projects and occasional client-facing interactions.
Responsibilities Include:

Assisting with networking efforts with potential referral partnerships.

Creating social media posts and newsletters in Canva, and writing copy for them, with close collaboration with the practice owner.

Participating in community outreach efforts, such as organizing or staffing events like the Lakelands Boo Bash, our Oktoberfest table, and our Halloween Trick-or-Treat at the Shops
- Welcoming clients and offering basic support during check-ins, including helping to schedule follow-up appointments.

Supporting light administrative tasks and contributing to patient engagement and practice visibility.
Ideal Candidate:

Enrolled in an undergraduate program (Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Psychology, Public Health, or a related major) – (required for this position)

Excellent writing, research, and interpersonal skills
- Strong artistic skills in the use of Canva

Responsible, warm, polished, and professional demeanor
Comfortable working independently in a quiet, professional environment

This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of a thriving psychotherapy practice while building your professional resume and portfolio.
This internship is educational in nature and intended to provide the intern with a learning opportunity. Intern tasks are supplemental, supervised, and structured to support learning rather than fulfill duties otherwise performed by employees.
