Adult Testing and Assessment Services

Our Services

Kentlands Psychotherapy is pleased to offer our community Psychological and Psychoeducational testing and assessment services to adults! We know how beneficial the proper testing evaluation can be in understanding your emotional, psychological, or cognitive issues.  Testing can help to develop a plan to support your needs and advocate for you in your home, work, therapy, and educational settings. We are here to help you with these needs.

What is testing for, and how can it help me?

A comprehensive evaluation (“testing”) helps clarify a diagnostic profile and treatment planning, considering work/school accommodations and, more generally, gaining a clear understanding of you/your young adult’s areas of strength and vulnerability. Common concerns include:

  • ADHD
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Intellectual Disability
  • OCD
  • Specific Learning Disorders

*Admissions testing is also available! Please get in touch with us directly for information.

Testing is customized to each client’s needs. Generally, it provides information on cognition (or intellectual abilities), academic achievement, learning, memory, and other processing areas (i.e., attention and executive functioning, visual motor, phonological), as well as social, emotional, behavioral, and adaptive functioning.

What You Can Expect

  1. A FREE 15-minute call with one of our testing psychologists to decide if testing is right for you.
  2. A 60-minute intake to discuss concerns and history.
  3. Testing sessions will take place over two mornings, during which we will complete various tasks and questionnaires.
  4. An in-office or virtual feedback session & cohesive written report summarizing the results.

Our Report Turnaround Time

You may wonder, “How long until I get the results?” This is an excellent question as you consider who to work with. Typically, our office can provide your assessment results and the written report within 3-4 weeks after completing testing sessions.

Resources

We can also provide tailored wrap-around psychotherapy support services to implement the treatment recommendations identified by the evaluator, specifically targeted to improve our client’s quality of life and assist them in reaching their full potential. These services can include, if requested, therapy and executive functioning coaching services, and referrals, as appropriate, to other specialists such as specific types of psychotherapy, neurology, psychiatry (medication services), audiology, developmental pediatrics, etc. We also have professional relationships with local education advocates and education law attorneys.

Psychological and Psychoeducational testing and evaluations can be a tool and resource for individuals with academic, social, or occupational challenges. Testing can help to clarify diagnoses, recommend specific accommodations for school or work, and understand cognitive or emotional functioning difficulties. Are you wondering if testing is even necessary for your young adult? Here is a blog post addressing this question.

Our psychologist conducts all of your testing personally. We never use students or paraprofessionals to administer tests and conduct interviews. Call us for details at (240) 252-3349.
