Inclement Weather Policy

Our snow policy is based on a philosophy that no one should feel they must risk life and limb to avoid a cancellation fee.

Our Inclement Weather Policy has been designed with the safety of our staff members and clients in mind. If a staff member feels that it is not safe to drive in bad weather, they or an administrative staff member will contact you via call, text, or email. They will discuss the possibility of switching to telemedicine or rescheduling your appointment. Therefore, if you have not been contacted and the weather is questionable, we recommend that you reach out to your therapist directly to confirm the appointment.

If you are feeling unsafe and would like to stay at home, or if a school cancellation has caused unexpected childcare or privacy issues, please contact your therapist by both text and phone call. If you have their cell phone number, please use it to ensure immediate contact. This will allow your therapist to quickly adapt their schedule to your needs, whether that means sending you a telemedicine link, staying home, coming in later, leaving early, taking a lunch break, or offering the appointment time to someone else.

In most cases, the appointment can be quickly converted to a telemedicine format, and we will email you a link immediately. If you have trouble reaching your therapist, please call us for assistance. Know that if you take these steps to make contact and an alternate plan as needed, there will be no cancellation fee should you need to cancel.

In contrast, if you do not show up (physically or virtually) without making contact, we will ask you to pay for your session time as booked.

Telemedicine

If you and your therapist agree, you can usually convert your appointment to telemedicine.  Kentlands Psychotherapy offers video telemedicine via your smart device or computer. Simply download the Telehealth by SimplePractice from the Google Play or Apple App stores.  Your therapist will email or text you the link for your session.
