Much of my work can be described as helping people achieve
relationship mastery
through collaborative mentoring.
I believe we all struggle with some universal challenges to intimacy. There is rarely a "bad guy" when a couple is struggling. People have a
natural capacity to find solutions to problems, to discover strategies to improve relationships, and to overcome self-imposed obstacles within the right therapeutic
relationship. My job is to provide you with a
supportive ear, compassionate feedback, and to
ask questions that bring you to ideas for
action. It is also to help couples
find a new way to be with one another that warms the heart and
brings people together again as allies.
Aside from the private practice in Gaithersburg, MD, I also teach at the Uniform Services University of the Health Sciences where I train doctoral level
psychology students assessment and therapy skills, including marital and couple's therapy. I am married and live with my family in
Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Dr. Krista Beyer |
Hello – this is Krista Beyer and I’m delighted to have joined Dr. Carr at Kentlands Psychotherapy. My background includes working with people of all ages in brief
treatment and longer-term therapy, to address a wide range of problems. I have led interpersonal process groups and have conducted workshops on such topics as dream exploration and
suicide risk. More recently, I have written articles for
Montgomery County’s Insight
magazine.
My approach to psychotherapy is integrative, which allows me to draw from a variety of styles and techniques – including cognitive, interpersonal, and person-centered. I collaborate with you to tailor a
therapy that best fits your needs and personality. Depending on what is most meaningful for you, we might focus primarily on your symptoms and/ or delve
into deeper issues. We can also incorporate important elements of your life into the therapy, including diversity issues, creativity, spirituality, and
personal growth. My goal is to create the most effective and efficient psychotherapy experience for you.

Nicole Beane |
Hi! My name is Nicole
Beane and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C) who has been
practicing in the area for over 10 years. In fact I love sharing with the kids
and teens that I work with that I am a Quince Orchard Cougar (though I won't
always share what year I graduated for fear of them laughing)!
I am very excited to be joining KP after
recently moving out of the Lakelands. It's great to come back to my old
community! I work with children and teens dealing with challenging mood and
anxiety issues. I am also very skilled helping teens and families cope with
"cutting" behaviors and suicidal thoughts and gestures. My experience at
Children's National Medical Center's Psychiatric Day Treatment
Program has also allowed me to master valuable tools in helping with school
refusal, diagnosing and treating depression and bi-polar disorder, and teaching
parents tools for addressing behavioral problems at home and school. I also have
a particular interest in helping children get through divorce since I have
experienced divorce as a child myself and understand the struggles personally.
I collaborate with
teachers, school counselors, pediatricians and child psychiatrists on behalf of
your child/teen. For the past seven years I have worked in a private practice
where I taught Children's Hospital medical residents the tools for working with
children and teens in a group therapy setting. I run social skills therapy
groups as well as teen support groups. I believe in closely working with parents
and having on-going communication. Of course it can get a little "tricky" when
working with teens, but it is still important to me to make parents feel at ease
and informed. It is an honor to me to be able to work with children and
teenagers. I have two children of my own and I absolutely adore children and
their ability to see the world with such hope and optimism.
I hope I can help your son or daughter if they ever need my services.
