(MPO537) Adult Clinical Assessment I Syllabus

The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with the fundamentals of adult clinical assessment through the use of interview and psychological testing procedures. Students will focus on interviewing skills – building rapport, setting the frame, and diagnosis through interviewing. This will include developing skills to comprehend and clarify consult requests from other medical providers, to develop strategies for responding to those request, and to communicate results and recommendations.

(MPO537) Adult Clinical Assessment II Syllabus

The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with the fundamentals of adult clinical assessment through the use of interview and psychological testing procedures. Students will become familiar with selecting various testing instruments, appropriate use, and integrated interpretation of assessment data.

 

(MPO543) Couples Therapy Syllabus

The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with the two primary empirically validated theories in the field of couple’s therapy. The course will be both didactic, as well as experiential in nature with a focus on practical skill building. Special populations and issues will also be covered including separation and divorce, infidelity, violence in intimate relationships, when one partner suffers from depression, alcohol addiction in marriage, same-sex couples, dual career couples, special issues in military marriages, the addition of baby, and sexuality in committed relationships.
