Hi! My name is Nicole
Beane and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C) who has been
practicing in the area for over 10 years. In fact I love sharing with the kids
and teens that I work with that I am a Quince Orchard Cougar (though I won't
always share what year I graduated for fear of them laughing)!
I am very excited to be joining KP after
recently moving out of the Lakelands. It's great to come back to my old
community! I work with children and teens dealing with challenging mood and
anxiety issues. I am also very skilled helping teens and families cope with
"cutting" behaviors and suicidal thoughts and gestures. My experience at
Children's National Medical Center's Psychiatric Day Treatment
Program has also allowed me to master valuable tools in helping with school
refusal, diagnosing and treating depression and bi-polar disorder, and teaching
parents tools for addressing behavioral problems at home and school. I also have
a particular interest in helping children get through divorce since I have
experienced divorce as a child myself and understand the struggles personally.
I collaborate with
teachers, school counselors, pediatricians and child psychiatrists on behalf of
your child/teen. For the past seven years I have worked in a private practice
where I taught Children's Hospital medical residents the tools for working with
children and teens in a group therapy setting. I run social skills therapy
groups as well as teen support groups. I believe in closely working with parents
and having on-going communication. Of course it can get a little "tricky" when
working with teens, but it is still important to me to make parents feel at ease
and informed. It is an honor to me to be able to work with children and
teenagers. I have two children of my own and I absolutely adore children and
their ability to see the world with such hope and optimism.
I hope I can help your son or daughter if they ever need my services.
